What is Sport Psychotherapy?
Sport psychotherapy provides structured emotional support to help athletes to achieve their potential, both inside and outside of sport. It also investigates, treats or prevents sports specific emotional strains and disorders. Sport psychotherapy is different to sport psychology. Whereas sport psychology in many countries primarily focuses on performance, sport psychotherapy works with the athlete in their totality and does so therapeutically.

What are the benefits for athletes?
High performance athletes are subject to high levels of somatic, social and mental stress with mental stress in particular being an integral component of high performance sport.

Sport Psychotherapy can benefit athletes by working on the reciprocal relationships between thoughts, emotions and physical performance with the aims of performance enhancement and also mental & emotional health.

As a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, a former athlete, a current sports coach and a current sports coach tutor I can assure you of an informed and professional therapeutic service that is based on contemporary cognitive behavioural principles and also on my personal experience of what it feels like to be an athlete and a sports coach.

This service is delivered in person or online with sessions costing €60 each and lasting for roughly 55 minutes. The number of sessions required varies from person to person but the average is between 6 and 20. As a client you do not have to commit to a specific number of sessions and you can drop out at any time.
