What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy. It is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health.
How does CBT work?
CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful thinking and behaviours, improving emotional regulation, and on the development of personal coping strategies that seek to address current issues.
At Cogbeh consultations can take place in person or online. They cost €60 per session and last for roughly 55 minutes. The number of sessions required varies from person to person but the average is between 6 and 20.

CBT has been referred to as the current gold standard of psychotherapy (Source: David et al., 2018). After medication CBT is the most effective treatment for reducing the symptoms of almost all mental health problems, but especially anxiety and depression (Source: Mental Health Ireland).
